The best Shopify giveaway app depends on what you want shoppers to do. Enter with an email address? Refer a friend? Earn entries when they buy? Those sound like small differences, but they change which features and plan you need.
For a purchase giveaway, look closely at how the app counts orders and handles refunds. For a list-building promotion, focus on the entry experience, referral options, and where subscriber data goes afterward. Either way, a low starting price is only useful if that plan covers your actual promotion.
Here are seven options worth comparing, with the practical details that help you choose.

These limits measure different things. A participant or profile is a person; an order is a purchase; entries are chances to win. One shopper can place several orders and earn many entries. Don't compare those allowances as though they're interchangeable.
Revup
Revup lets you run purchase sweepstakes, form-based giveaways, photo contests, instant-win promotions, quizzes, and surveys from one platform. At $99/month with unlimited orders and participants, it suits stores that want room to grow a purchase giveaway and try other promotion formats without switching apps.
For purchase sweepstakes, eligible Shopify orders earn entries automatically. You can set a spend-based rate, product bonuses, order thresholds, coupon bonuses, and limited-time boosts. When an order is refunded or canceled, Revup adjusts the associated entries. You can also see how each order earned its entries.
Show shoppers how many entries a purchase can earn, then let them check their totals through supported order and account pages. Use winner management to handle winner claims and paperwork, then Revup Flows for follow-up or connect your email marketing tools. Our Shopify integration page shows the available promotion formats.
Price: Launch is $99/month with unlimited orders and participants. Its separate Customer Intelligence features include up to 10,000 unified customer profiles; that is not a limit on promotion participants. Email and SMS sends have their own plan allowances. The seven-day trial requires no payment method and lets you view details for the first 20 participants. That 20-participant restriction is trial-only. See Revup pricing and trial details.
Consider before choosing: If you expect plenty of orders or want to run different kinds of promotions, compare what each plan includes as you grow. Revup's starting price covers unlimited orders and participants. Each connected Shopify store can run one active purchase sweepstakes at a time, and removing Revup branding requires Grow or above.

Clean Sweeps
Clean Sweeps focuses on purchase-based promotions, with entries per dollar, product bonuses, and scheduled multipliers. Its storefront widgets help shoppers see what a product earns and check their totals. Higher plans add cart displays, guest entry lookup, and referral or membership rewards.
Price: The free plan covers 10 processed orders per month. Basic is $30/month for 250; Gold is $99/month for 2,000; Platinum is $199/month for 5,000.
Consider before choosing: Match the plan to the widgets and rewards you need, as well as order volume. Checkout displays require Shopify Plus and a qualifying Clean Sweeps plan. Its website places AMOE tracking on Diamond at $799/month, so confirm how you will manage free-entry requests on a lower tier. Test refunds and cancellations before launch.

Sweeppea
Sweeppea's Shopify app awards entries based on spending and includes tools for creating official rules, offering a free-entry form, and drawing winners. It's worth comparing if you want those steps alongside purchase tracking.
Price: The free plan lists 10 participants and purchases. Crescendo is $29/month for one purchase sweepstakes and up to 1,000 sales transactions. Forte is $199/month for two purchase sweepstakes and up to 5,000 transactions. Presto is $399/month and lists unlimited sales transactions.
Consider before choosing: Use the Shopify-specific plans when comparing prices. Human expert guidance and winner-administration services vary by tier. Confirm the transaction allowance's reset period, what happens at the limit, and how refunds change entries. A rules-creation tool is also different from having your particular promotion reviewed.

Giveaway Ninja
Giveaway Ninja is worth comparing if you want to build a promotion around purchases and referrals. Its purchase-entry documentation covers order-based and spend-based awards, product rules, and multipliers.
One detail to check during setup: order-edit, cancellation, and refund handling are optional webhook settings. Don't assume every order change will be handled just because the initial purchase action works. Enable the relevant settings and test them against your promotion's rules.
Price: The free plan allows 50 participants per month. Starter is $49/month for 500; Pro is $99/month for 2,000 and adds email integrations. See Giveaway Ninja's pricing.
Consider before choosing: Its pricing page says contact details above your allowance become locked, and those people are excluded from draws, exports, and email sync until you upgrade. Estimate participation before launch so that limit doesn't surprise you at winner-selection time.

SweepWidget
SweepWidget is worth a look if your giveaway combines referrals, social actions, and purchases. Its Shopify listing describes store-wide or per-product purchase-entry rates, photo contests, and email-provider integrations.
Price: There is a free basic plan for embedded giveaways. Purchase entries start on Pro at $29/month, which lists 100 tracked orders. Business is $59/month with 1,000 tracked orders; Premium is $119/month with 5,000 and branding removal.
Consider before choosing: Price it against expected orders, not just audience size. Confirm how the order allowance resets, what happens when you exceed it, and how refunds affect entries. We haven't verified those operational details through a hands-on test.

Gleam
Gleam's Competitions product is worth comparing for promotions that ask people to complete actions and share with friends. Its Shopify integration supports embedding the widget and syncing participant emails into Shopify. The integration documentation places that connection on Pro and above.
Price: The monthly Competitions plans start at $29 for Hobby and $59 for Pro. If the Shopify integration is part of your plan, use the Pro price when comparing costs. See Gleam's current pricing.
Consider before choosing: Gleam's Shopify contest guide recommends a Custom Purchase Action for order entries. That alone doesn't establish the same workflow as automatic spend-based entry tracking. Ask for a demonstration of your exact order, repeat-purchase, and refund scenarios before choosing it for a purchase-heavy promotion.

Social Boost
Social Boost offers giveaway, referral, and seasonal promotion templates. Its Shopify listing also describes bonus entries per dollar spent and connections to email tools including Klaviyo and Mailchimp.
Price: The free plan lists all features with a 50-user limit. The next tier is $49.95/month for 500 users, followed by $99/month for 2,000.
Consider before choosing: “All features” doesn't mean unlimited capacity. Check how the app counts users and what happens at the cap. A small test may fit the free plan, but a store-wide launch can need a paid tier quickly.

How to choose without spending a week comparing apps
Start with one sentence: “We want this promotion to help us ____.” That gives you a much better shortlist than counting feature checkmarks.
- Grow an email list: Try the entry form on your phone. Check the fields, consent options, and sync to your email tool. Confirm the plan includes that integration.
- Encourage purchases: Compare entry calculations, product exclusions, bonuses, and order-change handling. Ask how shoppers check their totals and how you investigate a discrepancy.
- Reach friends of customers: Test the referral flow from both sides. Find out what counts as a successful referral and how duplicate or suspicious activity is reviewed.
- Run promotions throughout the year: Look beyond the first giveaway. Will you also want customer photo contests, instant prizes, and follow-up messages in the same system?
If you're still deciding what to run, start with these ecommerce contest and giveaway ideas. Choose the promotion first, then find the app that supports it.
Before launch, test the parts shoppers will notice
A feature list can't tell you whether your particular promotion is ready. Run a small private test before sending traffic to it. Here's the checklist we'd use:
- Enter on a phone. Can a new visitor understand the prize, closing date, and entry steps without hunting around?
- Check the numbers. For a purchase giveaway, work out the expected entries for a sample order, then compare them with the app. Include a discount, an excluded product, and a repeat purchase.
- Change an order. Test a cancellation and a partial refund. Check both the participant's total and the history you would use to answer their question.
- Try the free-entry route. Confirm it works and that its treatment matches your reviewed official rules.
- Follow the data. Check that consent and selected fields reach the right email list. Preview the follow-up message.
- Rehearse the finish. Review the participant export, winner-selection process, and notifications. Check that plan limits won't prevent access to the people you need to review.
These are suggested checks, not results from tests of the seven apps. If you choose Revup, our Shopify purchase-sweepstakes tutorial walks through the setup and entry calculations.
Common questions about Shopify giveaway apps
Is there a free Shopify giveaway app?
Yes. Clean Sweeps, Sweeppea, SweepWidget, Giveaway Ninja, and Social Boost list free plans, but their allowances and included features differ. Check the comparison above for the distinction between a basic free giveaway, a participant cap, and paid purchase tracking. Revup offers a seven-day trial rather than a permanent free plan.
Can an app give customers entries for every dollar they spend?
Yes, several apps support purchase-based entries. The useful comparison is how each handles discounts, excluded products, repeat orders, refunds, and bonuses. With Revup, qualifying product spend is calculated after discounts and before tax, excluding shipping.
Do I need Shopify Plus to run a giveaway?
You don't need Shopify Plus to run a purchase sweepstakes with Revup. Where you place it matters: adding a Revup widget inside checkout requires Plus, while supported storefront placements don't. Clean Sweeps also requires Plus and a qualifying app plan for its checkout displays. See the placement guide in our tutorial for Revup's options.
Will a giveaway app handle the whole promotion for me?
Software can help collect participants, track entries, and manage winners, but someone still needs to configure and run the promotion. If you want Revup to handle setup, administration, official rules, registration and bonding, and winner paperwork, see our separate sweepstakes administration service. You supply and deliver the prize.
Pick the app for the promotion you actually want to run
For a small email giveaway, start by checking the free plans. For a purchase promotion, make order handling and usable capacity the deciding factors. For an ongoing program, consider how much setup and follow-up you can keep together.
Choose Revup if you want purchase giveaways with unlimited orders and participants, plus forms, contests, quizzes, and surveys in the same platform. Explore what you can run on Shopify or install Revup and start your seven-day trial.
