## Overview

Revup Surveys is a first-class promotion type for asking customers direct questions. It uses the shared promotion builder, themes, languages, previews, and embeds, adds rating, opinion-scale, and ranking questions, reports results question by question as responses arrive, and runs either anonymously or attached to the unified customer profile depending on whether the survey asks for a contact identifier.

## Core capabilities

- Rating, opinion scale, ranking, choice, picture choice, text, upload, and date questions across multi-page surveys
- Anonymous or identified responses, decided by whether an email, phone, or unique ID question is active
- A Responses report organized by question, with charts for bounded answers and grouped, searchable open text
- Question-summary and per-response CSV exports, a participant table, and identified responses on the unified customer profile

## Product details

### Question types

Surveys use the shared Revup field registry apart from payment fields, the agree-to-rules checkbox, and instant-win codes. That covers primary contact fields such as email, name, phone, address, birthday, gender, and unique ID; contact and identity controls including CAPTCHA, email and SMS opt-ins, age gates, passcodes, and signatures; collection fields such as text, long text, checkboxes, dropdowns, multiple choice, picture choice, multi-select, website URL, file upload, and date picker; rating and ranking fields for star ratings, opinion scales, and ranking; and layout elements including headings, paragraphs, dividers, media, banners, and a new-page element that turns a long survey into a multi-page one. Surveys do not have conditional or branching logic; every respondent sees every question on the page.

### Anonymous or identified

The questions decide the mode. If no email, phone, or unique ID question is active, responses are handled anonymously: no contact record is created, and there are no cookies, saved drafts, prefilled answers, verification steps, or contact integrations. Add any one of those questions, even as an optional one, and the survey becomes identified, with responses attached to a contact. Removing the last identifier restores anonymous handling. Anonymous means no contact identifier is collected; it is not a promise about what someone writes into an open text answer.

### The Responses report

Reporting has two tabs. Responses opens by default and is organized question by question, with a stat header for responses, questions, completion rate, and started, a date range covering All Time, Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, month to date, year to date, and a custom range, plus refresh and export controls. Analytics holds the standard promotion report. Each question card shows the field icon and number, the label, the question type, whether it was required, how many answered and skipped, the response rate, and a numeric average where one applies.

### Charts and open-ended answers

Bounded-choice, rating, and ranking questions render as bar charts that can be switched between vertical, horizontal, and table views, showing the top 15 answers with the remainder carried in the table. Ranking charts plot mean position alongside first-choice counts. Open-ended answers are grouped by exact value, sorted by frequency, paginated ten at a time, and searchable with a literal case-insensitive match. Multi-select percentages are calculated against respondents who answered, so they can add up to more than 100 percent. Revup does not use AI to summarize or interpret text answers.

### Exports and participant records

Export a question-summary CSV for the aggregates or a per-response CSV for the detail; both honor the date range currently applied and are formatted so spreadsheet applications do not execute cell contents. Exports of anonymous surveys redact IP address, location, source, and campaign metadata. The participant table works as it does on any promotion, with filters, pagination, bulk actions, and a detail drawer; anonymous rows appear as Anonymous response followed by the response ID.

### Publishing, incentives, and security

Publish a survey as an inline widget, a popup, or a standalone hosted landing page, on a Revup URL with a custom slug, and share it through QR codes and tracking links. Surveys start with no prize and no social actions, and either can be added. A prize draw runs through the same Winners dashboard as any other promotion. Language variants translate the survey while keeping the original option ordering, and CAPTCHA, the fraud switch, per-IP response caps, IP allow and block lists, VPN and proxy rules, and passcodes are available. Surveys can also be drafted from Claude, ChatGPT, or Codex through Revup's MCP server.

## Common use cases

### Post-purchase feedback

Ask buyers to rate fit, quality, and delivery after an order, with an open text question for anything the ratings miss.

### Product development input

Have customers rank options for the next flavor, shade, size, or feature and compare mean position against first-choice counts.

### Satisfaction tracking

Run an opinion scale from 0 to 10 alongside a short explanation question, and compare the same survey across date ranges.

### Preference and profile enrichment

Ask identified customers what they want to hear about, then use those answers on the customer profile to shape the next campaign.

### Candid brand feedback

Publish a survey with no contact question so respondents answer without creating a contact record, and read the aggregates only.

### Event and experience feedback

Put a QR code on the table, the badge, or the packaging and collect ratings and comments while the experience is still fresh.

### Pre-launch research

Test concepts, names, and price expectations with picture choice and multiple choice questions before committing to a launch.

### Incentivized research

Attach a prize to a longer survey and run the draw through the Winners dashboard once responses close.

## Common questions

### Can a Revup survey be completely anonymous?

Yes. If the survey has no active email, phone, or unique ID question, responses are handled anonymously: no contact record is created, and there are no cookies, saved drafts, prefilled answers, verification steps, or contact integrations. Anonymous responses appear in the participant table as Anonymous response followed by the response ID, and anonymous exports redact IP, location, source, and campaign metadata. Anonymous means no contact identifier is collected. It is not a guarantee about what someone types into an open answer.

### How do I make responses identified instead?

Add an email, phone, or unique ID question. One is enough, and it can be optional. From that point responses attach to a contact, join that person's unified customer profile alongside their entries and purchases, and can sync to the integrations connected to the survey. Remove the last identifier and the survey goes back to anonymous handling.

### Does Revup support conditional or branching questions?

No. Surveys do not have per-question display logic, so every respondent sees every question on the page. You can split a long survey into multiple pages with the new-page element, and you can publish separate surveys for separate audiences.

### How do I see the results?

Survey results are organized question by question in the Reporting tab, with response totals, completion rate, and flexible date filtering. Visual questions are summarized with charts and tables, while open-ended answers are grouped, ranked by frequency, and searchable.

### Does Revup summarize open-ended answers with AI?

No. Text answers are grouped by exact value and counted, and you read them yourself. Revup does not generate themes, sentiment, or summaries from what respondents wrote.

### Can I offer a prize for completing a survey?

Yes. Surveys start with no prize and no social actions, and you can add either. A prize draw runs through the same Winners dashboard used by every other Revup promotion, so you can select winners and manage claims exactly as you would for a giveaway.

### Do survey responses count toward my plan?

Only identified responses do. They count the same way as any other customer profile: once per person, no matter how many surveys they answer. Anonymous responses don't create a profile, so they don't count toward your plan at all. Test responses from previews never count. Free trials include 20 participants in total, whether they're identified or anonymous.
